Episode 2: The Owl and the Eye

Previous: Episode One: The Swingin' Mrs. Jones       Next: Episode Three: The Abominable Snowman

Left to right: Anne Francis, John Ericson,
Lloyd Bochner, and John McLiam (in chair)

Opening:

Honey and Sam break into a museum and steal a bejeweled owl. (The stuff dreams are made of?) Turns out the man who loaned the owl to the museum hired them, and they convince the museum to boost security by means of a radioactive device. But nukes do not seem to deter the thieves.

You may laugh at my champagne-glass gun, but
wait till you see the bullets it squirts.

Honey is romanced with flat champagne by the otherwise charming guest star, Lloyd Bochner. Then she’s kidnapped by guest villain Richard Loo. The climax goes to the dogs, but in a good way. Honey proves she is clever in dealing with said dogs. Anne Francis’s stunt double gets a workout, including a dive into the harbor. No explanation for “Eye” of title; maybe it refers to private eyes?

Ocelot play begins with this episode. "Bruce" may be declawed, but watch out for his teeth!

Just a minute. I think Bruce hit a vein.

Warning: All ratings are graded on a curve because “Honey West” is a guilty pleasure that doesn’t get better.

Overall rating: 4/5

Martial Arts rating: 3/5
